|Description:||The Assistant Director for the Patient Note Program has an overall responsibility for CSEC Patient Note Program Quality Assurance. Additional responsibilities and involvement will be in areas of CSEC such as operations and test material development as determined by the Patient Note Program Director. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with CSEC Directors as a member of the Director’s Council and will participate in development and monitoring activities for CSEC non-USMLE clients. |
|Duties:||The responsibilities and duties of this position include engaging in QC activities as they relate to the Patient Note Program, monitoring Patient Note Rater (PNR) performance including QC information and identifying when interventions are needed to maintain the integrity of PNR ratings, providing remediation training to outlying raters, preparing PNR QC reports and developing effective delivery methods for providing feedback to PNRs. Reviewing PNR case feedback forms and communicating with other CSEC operational areas to resolve potential case portrayal issues, participating in ongoing note rating, assisting the Patient Note Director with the development of benchmark notes and with ongoing case training and periodic scoring guideline recalibration training to all active PNRs. The Assistant Director will also present original research findings at professional meetings, assist the Patient Note Director in contributing to case development as it effects the PN, serving as staff/consultant to the Key Validation, IRC and Test Development Committees, assist across other operational units as requested by the Patient Note Director such as addressing Medical Advisor questions and contributing to the development of physical exam items. The Assistant Director will also develop and explore innovations to enhance the Step 2CS examination, and perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Note Director.|
|Qualifications:||The requirements for this position include experience rating patient notes for USMLE Step 2 CS or experience in an undergraduate or graduate medical education setting participating in Objective Standardized Clinical Encounters (OSCE) or assessments of clinical skills. Experience in undergraduate and/or graduate medical education (e.g. teaching and evaluating medical students and residents, program or clerkship director role, developing curriculum, teaching in clinical skills courses with involvement in assessment of clinical skills) or equivalent experience desired. The requirements also include maintaining an active clinical practice providing patient care (a minimum of one half day per week desirable) and administrative and managerial experience (e.g. budget management, supervising personnel) is desirable. The candidate for this position must have a M.D. or D.O degree, current certification from member board of American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association, and an active state license to practice medicine.|
The skills and abilities include the ability to work collegially with physicians, health professionals and CSEC team, ability to effectively and diplomatically engage in training and remediation issues with peers, exceptional time management and organizational skills, excellent communication skills across various settings (e.g. one-on-one, in meetings, on the phone, in large groups, and in documents and email). Proficient in Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and able to quickly gain efficiency in other software applications specific to the job, high standards of ethics and integrity, high level of confidentiality required, and must possess the medical knowledge and clinical acumen needed to develop and review standardized clinical cases.
